Der Gewissens-Begriff, wie auch Kants These vom 'radikalen Bösen' stehen im größeren Zusammenhang einer kritischen Interpretation von Kants Ethik, die bis in die Bereiche von Politik und Glauben führt. Damit wird ein wichtiger Beitrag zur Klärung der strittigen Problematik von Theorie und Praxis geliefert. Das wird, in einem Exkurs, durch eine Auseinandersetzung mit einer neueren Arbeit aus der aktuellen Diskussion der analytischen Ethik verdeutlicht: Kants 'Bestimmung durch Freiheit' ist weder ein formales Vorgehen, noch kann der kategorische Imperativ einfach nur als 'Prinzip der Konfliktbewältigung' verstanden werden.
