He himself later engaged in theatre and film and became an outstanding figure in the history of the Iranian film. In his works he successfully managed to link the traditional with the modern. With the Iranian revolution of 1979 he emigrated to the United States. But his films and plays remained concerned with Iranian themes. The article shortly examines "A Man Turned Ass" (1983), "Samad Goes to War" (1984) and "Samad Returns from War" (1988/89) and concludes that Saiyad "has become a human bridge between Iran proper and the Iranian diaspora".
