First some of this constitution’s highlights are presented (1). Then this constitution’s main socioeconomic rights are described from the perspective of international human rights declarations and treaties (2). After that a report is given about the endorsement of these rights by Suriname youth, divided into three different groups, Christian, Muslim and Hindu higher secondary education students. The so-called classic socioeconomic rights appear to be well supported by them, whereas the refugee rights are surrounded by negatively oriented ambivalence (3). The paper ends with a short conclusion.
