The Religion of the Future is an extended manifesto for Unger's version of prophetic pragmatism (the stance most strikingly posed by Cornel West). Unger urges a new, revolutionary transformation of human life supported by an (a)theology of Godless divinization. The heralded revolution deepens and extends transformations of the past two thousand five hundred years, although Unger maintains that prevailing theses about the nature and significance of the so-called Axial Age mistake the matter.
