Description
Résumé:This study explored the recovery experiences of 10 women with a history of childhood sexual abuse (CSA) who reported significant decreases in symptoms after completing spiritually integrated residential treatment. Interpretative phenomenological analysis methods were used. The research questions were: What is the experience of recovery from the sequelae of CSA, including alcohol or substance abuse, in a spiritually integrated residential treatment center? And what changes did participants recognize as part of healing or recovery? Data analysis revealed four central themes important to recovery: (a) relationships with others, (b) relationship with self, (c) changes in spirituality, and (d) forgiveness.
