520 |a It is possible to transcend differences in a diverse world by focusing on convergent spiritual experiences rather than divergent interpretations of such experiences. I explored this statement in a study that focused on developing spiritual knowing in adult learners. From this study emerged a spiritual epistemology consisting of four ways of spiritual knowing, which provides a frame for experiencing spirituality regardless of religious or spiritual orientation, and can therefore be practised by people from diverse faiths and different worldviews and belief systems. When practised, this epistemological model invites people to discover the commonalities in human experience and offers the opportunity for transcending differences, while honouring diversity in a complex and challenging world.
