Anstatt den intellektuellen Hintergrund von Kohelet in Griechenland, Ägypten oder Mesopotamien zu suchen, fanden wir ihn im ammonitisch-israelischen Kernland, nämlich bei der Tobiadenfamilie, soweit sich diese aus Josephus und anderen Quellen erschließen lässt: Sowohl Kohelet als auch die Tobiaden waren als hellenisierende Laien deutlich beeinflusst von der griechischen– namentlich auch kynischen und skeptischen– Literatur und Philosophie. Werden solche gemeinsamen intellektuellen Hintergründe sorgfältig herausgearbeitet, so lässt sich– mit sechs im Artikel genannten Argumenten– sogar eine konkrete Identifikation Kohelets in Betracht ziehen. Dabei spielen die beiden Koheletfragmente aus Qumran (4Q109Koha und 4Q76Kohb) eine Schlüsselrolle. | ||

None of these attempts was able to explain the intellectual background sufficiently leading to a never-ending discussion. Instead of looking for the intellectual background of Kohelet in Greece, Egypt or Mesopotamia we detected it in the Ammonitic-Israelite heartland, in particular in the family of the Tobiads, as long as it is able to reconstruct them based on Josephus and other sources. Kohelet as well as the Tobiads were– as Hellenistic laymen– heavily influenced by the Greek–namely the cynical and the skeptical– literature and philosophy. The article looks at the mutual intellectual background and is thereby able– on the basis of six arguments– to consider an identification of Kohelet. In this attempt the fragments of Ecclesiastes from Qumran (4Q109Koha and 4Q76Kohb) play a key role. | ||

Mais aucun de ces efforts a résolu le problème, ainsi que la discussion continue infiniment. Cet article traite la question: quel est le fond de l’Ecclésiaste par rapport aux traditions familiales de l’époque en question, tout spécialement avec les idées de la famille des Tobiades connues par Josephus? Ces idées communes s’influencent-elles mutuellement ou font-elles mêmes partie les unes des autres? L’Ecclésiaste et les Tobiades étaient des laïques hellénistes. On remarque de grandes affinitiés, soit dans l’éducation philosophique (cynique, sceptique), soit dans la connaissance du symposium Alexandrien avec ses chants d’harpe (»mangeons, buvons, demain nous serons morts«) ainsi qu’une tendance au nihilisme au plan de l’épistémologie qui est étrange à la sagesse de l’Ancien Orient. Vues ces fonds communs et vus les fragments de Qumran (4Q109Koha et 4Q76Kohb), nous risquons même une identification concrète de l’Ecclésiaste avec un membre de cette famille des Tobiades. | ||
