| 520 | |a In the vast corpus of the Hittite festivals, a good number of which are known only by their name, some texts treat ritual pilgrimages in different parts of the country; texts of this type are particularly useful for the reconstruction of local panthea because they often cite and describe deities of which otherwise little to nothing is known. In this study, a selection of these sources, comprising both festival texts and cult inventories, are investigated and new information on local cults in North-Central Anatolia provided. A full edition of KBo 23.89(+), KBo 39.48+ and KBo 34.106(+) allows us to examine the panthea of some administrative districts, their cities, as well as the most important gods and their liturgies. The investigation will shed new light on religious ceremonies but is also relevant to the historical geography of the area. In conclusion, it is proposed to attribute KBo 23.89(+) to the "Festival of the journey to Nerik". | ||
