| Summary: | Rural women moving to Abidjan from the countryside confront a set of problems associated with their sex, religion, social origin and educational level. The present study on the Ahmadiyya movement in Abidjan, based on field work conducted between 1976 and 1979, analyzes some adaptive and integrative mechanism available to poor migrant women. The Ahmadiyya appears to be the most important movement in providing for the physical and social needs of the urban poor, particularly those of women. (DÜI-Hns) |
