Zusammenfassung: | Interreligious dialogue is one of the fundamental requirements of our age. Education continues to have a crucial role in transmitting accurate information and development of dialogue. Even though Turkey is a secular state, religion is taught at public schools as a compulsory subject from the fourth to the twelfth grade. It is taught in the "Din Kültürü ve Ahlak Bilgisi"programme (Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge) in the public elementary schools and high schools. In addition to these public schools, there are also Imam Hatip Schools where basic Islamic religious education is given. The article examines the perception and place of dialogue, tolerance, and non-Muslims in the textbooks of these public institutions. |
