Summary: | Tibetan Buddhism is still being practised today in many monasteries of northern China. Influenced as they are by the local characteristics of the region in which they are located, these monasteries all have specific features. At the same time, the y all share certain traits characteristic of Buddhist monasteries throughout northern China. This article has a primarily descriptive aim, as materials on such monasteries are not widely available. I will first introduce and compare the general situation of four monasteries. Secondly, I will provide information on the origins of the monks in the four monasteries and compare the financial and economic situation of the four monasteries. (Inner Asia/NIAS-Han) |
