Dieser Individualismus wird als eine Verfallsform der Verwirklichungsweise der Individualität interpretiert. Für beide Denker steht das Individuum als haecceitas beziehungsweise als Monade in einem ursprünglichen Gottesbezug und kommt in der ethischen Liebe zur Vollendung. Schließlich wird gezeigt, dass ein Individualismus, der sich durch Abgrenzung und Selbstbehauptung definiert, auf einer Fehlinterpretation seiner selbst basiert, die sich aber nicht durch einen Appell an mehr Gemeinschaftlichkeit oder die Rückkehr der Religion rezepthaft überwinden lässt, sondern nur durch eine vertiefte Suche nach dem Sinn der Einzigkeit und das Wagnis ihrer Verwirklichung. | ||
| 520 | |a The philosophical reflection on the human being’s personal individuality as developed by John Duns Scotus and Edmund Husserl is not only illustrated in this paper, but taken as a template for a critical assessment of the individualism dominating vast parts of Western societies. This kind of individualism is interpreted as an inauthentic way of the individuality’s self-realization. For both thinkers the individual is – as haecceitas respectively a monad – founded in a pristine reference to God and reaches its perfection in ethical love. Finally will be demonstrated that an individualism defined by demarcation and self-assertion is based upon a self-misunderstanding, which cannot be overcome by an appeal for more community or the return to religion, but only by a more profound search for the meaning of unicity and the risk of its realization. | ||
