To better understand this phenomenon, the author offers a reflection on the difficult path of post-communist societies from a 'modest security' of so-called real socialism to a democratic political system, but full of uncertainties. Nowadays, it seems that some Christians would rather forego freedom and compassion within the church than allow insecurity. The current polarization is interpreted as a conflict between materialism and post-materialism in Inglehart's sense. While materialists in the state and in the church yearn for traditional collateral, the postal materialists believe much more in the positive impact and future of democracy. There are also Catholics who see their security in the fixation on the preservation of the past forms of the liturgy and the internal church culture. In this context, for the author, evangelization is not the way back to the security of yesterday, but involves the opening up of new horizons. | ||
