She states that women's access to higher education has played a role since university campuses often support radical movements. Participation in such movement is a sign of struggle for emancipation and independence. After giving a brief overview of the history of the Turkish Islamicist movement in general, she discusses the form that female participation in the movement takes, and examines socio-economic, political, cultural and psychological factors for their participation. She then discusses the attitudes of various Muslim nations toward women. In conclusion, she states that an Islamicist government in Turkey would not suppress women and force them back into the domestic domain, but due to women's increased influence women will continue to advance in education, the job-market, and politics.
