This work examines the history of political culture and migration during the Ottoman period. The diverse contributions contained in this volume make clear that the Ottomans in no way imposed a reign of terror, as Christian successor states would later claim, but actually inaugurated their rule with broad tolerance toward their non-Moslem subjects |
