Summary: | Abstract der Zeitschrift: At its 2001 plenary meeting in Fulda the German Bishops' Conference held a seminar during which it considered the question 'Islam in Germany - challenge and opportunities for the Church'. It passed resolutions on recommendations made by Bishop Kamphaus of Limburg. The statement on this recommendations highlighted 'the need for statements by the Church of its position on the controversial questions of the practiceof Moslem religion, particularly where the Church is directly affected in the public arena, at parish level or in religious education in schools'. This raises significant questions about the legal position of Islam in society, in the State and in relation to the churches and religious communities, although it does not address all of them by far |
