| Zusammenfassung: | Mission hospitals in postcolonial developing countries were often staffed by female nurses who cared for women during labor and birth. This article is a thematic analysis of narratives from nurses who served at Oasis Hospital, United Arab Emirates, during the years 1960 to 1980. Despite the challenges and sacrifices (both during their service and upon returning to their homelands), these nurses spoke fondly of community, friendships, and a sense of accomplishment. |
