Description
Summary:This article offers an account of the author's 2018 BIAPT Conference keynote presentation. With a small amount of added explanation it consists mainly of the talk given to the delegates, includes the four reflective tasks which were set for the participants in the session and some of the pictures which were displayed. The methodology of presenting the subject matter 'The Adult Educator as Reflective Practitioner' first offers an autobiographical account, critically reflected upon, and second invites readers to engage briefly in their own parallel autobiographical critical reflection, sometimes with others. As a conclusion what had been worked with in the session is reviewed and made explicit, drawing out three methods of critically reflective practice: locating ourselves contextually, looking back over our life history for key moments of development, and looking sideways at how those different from ourselves do things, for comparison, analogy, and challenge.
