520 | |a The main aim of this paper is to modify the role of television and the national media in Iran, and to do so within the contexts of family, religion, and government. Attention is given to religious, social, and personal secularism, which are affected by religious media. The role of media in organizing current cultural and social life in Iran is considered. The main question raised is whether television in Iran presents the government and institution of family as religious. Do these programs have considerable audiences? Or does it perform mostly as a mediation tool towards social coherence, transferring energy and information in to each other? To clarify this, attention is paid to the types of television programming, comparing it with social institutions such as the Mosque, home, work, and school; these are places where the interests and needs of the aforementioned triple institutions will be obligatory. In spite of the efficiency and effectiveness of the television media in Iran in making society more religious, it seems that the existence of other institutions is no longer necessary. The main motive of this paper is to show the expansion of modernity in Iranian society from family to religion, government, and school. | ||
