Description
Résumé:Mel Gibson's epic film The Passion of the Christ attracted unexpectedly large audiences, garnered record profits, and drew international media attention. An international study of viewers of the film was conducted. Results indicate that audiences liked the film, perceived it as both educational and entertaining, and felt the media overhyped criticism of its violent content. Implications of this study for future research of religiously oriented entertainment-education films are discussed.
