Et ces conférences, loin de condamner la transformation du pays à marche forcée sous la direction de Staline, en signalent les aspects positifs : ampleur du développement industriel et enthousiasme de la jeune génération pour y travailler. Cette indulgence déplaît aux milieux catholiques du Nord qui soutiennent financièrement le séminaire, mais plus encore aux autorités vaticanes qui dénoncent avec vigueur depuis deux ans la persécution religieuse en Russie. Cet épisode original montre la capacité de séduction du régime soviétique et s'ajoute à la longue série des « retours d'URSS » qui en nourrissent une image assez positive. | ||
| 520 | |a In July 1932, Father Henri-Jean Omez was dismissed from his post as superior of the Russian-Catholic seminary of Lille. Reason for this sanction taken in Rome? He gave several lectures on the return of the trip he made incognito in the USSR during the autumn of 1931. And these conferences, far from condemning the transformation of the country into forced marches under the leadership of Stalin, point out the positive aspects: scale of industrial development and enthusiasm of the younger generation to work. This indulgence displeases the Catholic circles of the North who financially support the seminary, but even more so to the Vatican authorities, who have vigorously denounced religious persecution in Russia for two years. This episode shows the seductive capacity of the Soviet regime and it adds to the long series of "returns of USSR" which feed a rather positive image. | ||
