Résumé:The church's need to adapt herself to the modern world obliges her, that she may be understood by all men, to speak their language by espousing not only their likenesses but also their differences, and to abandon the mechanism of ancient formulas which, for many, have become mere folklore. Hence the study of these questions from a sociological point of view, that is to say, by accepting the facts, becomes a duty.
