Grâce à la protection de Catherine II, la société de Jésus avait trouvé refuge dans cette ville de Biélorussie où elle continua à mettre en œuvre ses conceptions pédagogiques dans un collège et à participer activement aux grands débats philosophiques de son temps. The city of Polotsk was the center of Jesuit publishing between 1773 and 1820, after the suppression of the Company. Thanks to the protection of Catherine II, the Society of Jesuits found refuge in this Belarusian city where it continued to implement its pedagogical conceptions in a college and to actively participate in the major philosophical debates of the time. |
