They also reported on parental religious practice. The data were modeled to compare the influence of mothers and fathers on male and female adolescents within the two age groups. In relation to adolescent religious practice, the findings demonstrated that parental influence was important for both sexes and both age groups, that there was little difference in overall parental influence on sons and daughters, that the extent of this influence increased rather than decreased between the ages of 11 to 12 and 15 to 16, that both parental and maternal practice conveyed additional predictive information, that mothers' practice was a more powerful predictor than fathers' practice among both sons and daughters, that the comparative influence of the father was weaker among daughters than among sons.
