Cette activité, dynamisée par une double croissance, à la fois démographique et économique, enregistrée au cours de la période protobyzantine, se traduit par la construction de nombreux bâtiments, privés et publics, élevés en grand appareil et agrémentés d’un élégant décor sculpté. L’objet de cet article est de considérer, à l’appui de divers indices laissés dans la pierre, les velléités architecturales et artistiques des villageois, les difficultés auxquelles étaient confrontés les maîtres d’œuvre sur les chantiers et les solutions qu’ils ont dû adopter. | ||

Numerous buildings, private and public, are evidence of this activity, stimulated by a demographic and economic growth recorded during the protobyzantine period. These constructions are erected in large stones apparatus and feature an elegant sculpted décor. This paper aims to assess, through the traces left in the stone, the architectural and artistic velleities of the villagers, the challenges the master craftsmen faced on the construction site and the solutions they provided. | ||
