The network of envoys that brought back astronomical science between the Joseon court in Korea and the Ming and Qing courts in China is discussed, and Kögler's star chart of 1723 is compared with several large format Korean star chart screens that acted as symbols of royal power and legitimacy in the Joseon dynasty (1392-1910) court. | ||
