Cette étrangéité exprime d'abord la diversité irréductible par rapport à « l'autre que moi », mais aussi par rapport « à l'autre moi » (la face cachée de notre identité) qu'on a parfois du mal à accepter et à accueillir, pour pouvoir, finalement, l'offrir en don aux autres. L'institution d'une pensée à partir de cette condition d'étrangéité, qui est principe d'humanisation, peut devenir un véritable « lieu théologique », une véritable catégorie de la Révélation, à savoir un contexte favorable pour saisir des traits essentiels du Dieu de notre foi, qui se manifeste librement au coeur de l'humanité en sollicitant l'hospitalité. Celle-ci s'ancre dans l'étrangeté ontologique, elle est la norme suprême de la coexistence et elle implique une sacramentalité de l'autre. | ||
| 520 | |a The fragility of everyday “living” forces us to take seriously the ontological “foreignness’ that characterizes us as men and women seeking to enter in a relationship with the Other/other. This “foreignness” expresses primarily the irreducible diversity in relation to “the other” facing us, but also in relation to that which is other/foreign in us (the hidden face of our identity), which is sometimes difficult to accept, and to welcome, and to be able, finally, to offer as a gift to others. The elaboration of a thought based on the condition of foreignness, which is the premise of humanization, can become a true “locus theologicus”, a real category of Revelation, namely a favourable context for grasping the essential features of the God of our faith, who manifests himself freely at the heart of humanity by seeking hospitality. Such a hospitality is anchored in ontological foreignness. It is the supreme norm of coexistence and demands a “sacramentalization” of the other. | ||
