Summary: | Mankind entered the space era in 1957 with the first flight of the Soviet Sputnik. Shortly after being set up, UNESCO’s COMEST (World Commission on the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology) examined some of the issues of an ethical nature relating to Man’s access to outer space. |
