| Zusammenfassung: | Karl Barth has been misread in two ways in Asia. Because of his claim of "religion as unbelief," Barth has been seen as a rebel against religions. Because of his view of "Christianity as true religion," he has been seen as an exclusive theologian. In the course of arguing that Barth actually did not rebel against religions and that and he is an inclusive theologian, this study will employ the German term Aufhebung as the key for the right rereading of his theology of divine revelation and human religion in Asia. Aufhebung has double dialectical meanings: negation and elevation. In light of the former, this study will show why Barth treats religion as an antithesis of revelation, and in light of the latter, this study will argue how Barth comes to see religion as a synthesis of revelation. The aim of this article is to read Barth with two eyes: Barth's own and the contemporary Asian theologian's. |
