| Summary: | Ethics in motion pictures are not an academic discipline, as opposed to the media and communication sciences. They represent, however, a defined perspective related to film as an individual medium. The ethical reflection concerning film shall be called a film ethic. Thereby, it is a subdiscipline of media ethics possessing a normative as well as a descriptive approach. As the (normative) ethic of film, film ethics concentrate on the question of which norms should apply to film and which moral agents are concerned and responsible for its implementation. And as the (descriptive) ethic in film, film ethics investigate which moral problems are brought up for discussion and how these are solved by the acting characters. However, appearing in film reviews and film ratings (child and youth protection) the normative and descriptive perspectives are brought together. Filmethik ist keine akademische Disziplin wie die Medien- und Kommunikationswissenschaft, sie ist aber eine bestimmte Perspektive auf das Einzelmedium Film. Die ethische Reflexion über den Film soll Filmethik heißen. Dabei ist sie eine Subdisziplin der Medienethik mit einem normativen und einem deskriptiven Ansatz. Als (normative) Ethik des Films konzentriert sich Filmethik auf die Frage, welche Normen für den Film gelten sollen und welche moralischen Akteure für die normative Durchsetzung zuständig bzw. verantwortlich sind. Und als (deskriptive) Ethik im Film untersucht die Filmethik, welche moralischen Probleme in Spielfilmen zur Sprache kommen und wie diese durch die handelnden Figuren gelöst werden. Die normative und die deskriptive Perspektive finden aber in der Filmkritik und Filmbewertung (Kinder- und Jugendschutz) zusammen. |
