Commodian überführt als erster christlich-lateinischer Dichter die Johannesoffenbarung nicht nur in ein neues literarisches Genre, sondern entschlüsselt die apokalyptischen Visionen für sich und seine Zeit. Dieser Neuinszenierung geht Johannes Stettner auf den Grund, indem er durch die Art der Rezeption des Dichters insbesondere von Offb 20–22 auf seine Datierung schließt und den Entwurf in die Theologiegeschichte einordnet. Nicht zuletzt lässt diese Untersuchung auch den Leser von heute die Johannesoffenbarung aus einem neuen Blickwinkel heraus verstehen. | ||
