Meyer an der Universität Stanford initiierten Forschungsprogramms steht die in large-scale-Vergleichsdesigns erhärtete These, dass sich im Bildungsbereich transnationale Plausibilisierungs- und Ordnungsstrukturen ausgebildet haben, die einen immer stärkeren Einfluss auf die Bildungssteuerung auf nationaler Ebene ausüben. Der vorliegende Beitrag diskutiert diese These in religionspädagogischer Perspektive. Die Argumentation verläuft in drei Schritten: Zunächst werden - mit bildungspolitischem Fokus - das zentrale Erkenntnisanliegen, das forschungsmethodische Vorgehen und die wichtigsten Befunde des World Polity Ansatzes vorgestellt und auf ihre religionspädagogischen Implikationen hin befragt. Danach werden - unter Rückgriff auf David Martins Analysen zur historischen Pfadabhängigkeit des religiösen Wandels - die Schwierigkeiten thematisiert, die beim Versuch eintreten, diese Theorieperspektive auf die schulische Institutionalisierung der religiösen Bildungsdimension zu beziehen. Schließlich wird, in Auseinandersetzung mit neueren Publikationen zu religiöser Bildung auf der europäischen Polity-Ebene, die Notwendigkeit akzentuiert, dass die deutschsprachige Religionspädagogik sich stärker in den internationalen Diskurs um Religion, Politik und Bildung einbringt, der sich aktuell immer stärker in Richtung einer "worldview education" bewegt. | ||
