Beschreibung
Zusammenfassung:"Bridges and Islands" is an autobiographical reflection exploring the intersections of faith and scholarship for a postmodern Protestant academic who studies early medieval Britain while living in the heart of the Pacific Ocean. The essay engages with early Christian ideas of Incarnation, the Eucharist, and the Cross while drawing on the author's life experiences in American evangelicalism, teaching world history in a multicultural setting, and listening to indigenous voices in Hawai'i. It concludes by considering how these experiences bridging medieval and modern produce moments of synergy that help elucidate connections between past and present, the secular and the sacred.
