On peut présenter celle-ci selon une division en trois formes : économie d’argent, économie de la vie, économie du lieu de vie. Les deux premières ne sont que des formes pathologiques de mesure sans jouissance ou de jouissance sans mesure, dont les éthiques correspondantes n’expriment à leur tour que le malheur de vivre. La troisième forme de tradition aristotélicienne est une économie véritable et une éthique du bonheur de vivre mais elle est inadaptée à la dimension dans laquelle se présente notre situation présente. 
520 |a The advent of ecological devastation plunges our thinking on ethics and economics into a profound crisis. This crisis can be interpreted differently according to three different models: the economics of wealth, the economics of life, and the economics of living space. The first two are merely pathological forms of measurement without enjoyment or enjoyment without measurement, of which the corresponding ethics in turn express nothing but the unhappiness of living. The third model, taken from the Aristotelian tradition, offers an authentic economics and an ethics of human flourishing but remains inadequate when faced with the challenges of our current situation.
