In this connexion she demonstrates that metaphorical languag, which is held to be characterized by tension between an image and its referent(s), has both an informative and a performative function. These dual functions can be illustrated by a study of the history of the applications of prophetic metaphorical language.Comparison of the metaphor of the vineyard in Is 5:1-7 with Is 27:2-6 reveals, amng other things, how a single metaphor makes further text production possible. | ||
