Their new religious ministers present themselves as being chosen by God: their vocation is not legitimized by ecclesial authority, nor does it rely on their personal motivation. On the contrary, they have to stress their reluctance to exercise such a ministry. The senseless character of the project gives even further credit to its authenticity. However, the terms of these elections seem sufficiently similar to be highlighted. The analysis of twenty-three narratives, collected during individual interviews, will allow us to describe the ideal type of these religious virtuosos. | ||

Leurs dirigeants se présentent comme des « élus de Dieu » : non seulement leur vocation n’est pas légitimée par les autorités ecclésiales, mais elle ne s’appuie pas non plus sur leur motivation personnelle. Au contraire, ils se doivent même d’insister sur leur réticence a priori à l’exercice d’un tel ministère. Le caractère insensé du projet accrédite d’autant plus son authenticité. Ils produisent un discours se situant dans la logique et la rhétorique de l’authentique. Cependant, les modalités de ces élections paraissent suffisamment analogues pour être soulignées. L’analyse d’un corpus de vingt-trois récits oraux permet de décrire l’idéal type de ces virtuoses religieux. | ||
