Le fonds François Abou Salem se trouve au Théâtre National Palestinien/El-Hakawati à Jérusalem. Il a été constitué par François Gaspar, dit Abou Salem (1951-2011), homme de théâtre français établi à Jérusalem. Tout au long de sa carrière artistique, du début des années 1970 à sa mort en 2011, il a conservé ses propres archives. De la même manière que les archives du spectacle vivant, ce fonds s'est construit sur un paradoxe entre la dimension éphémère de la pratique qui s'oppose au caractère permanent et définitif de l'archive. Le fonds regroupe des matériaux de nature et de périodes différentes depuis l'émergence du mouvement théâtral palestinien, à la fondation de la première troupe de théâtre professionnelle (1977), puis à celle du premier théâtre palestinien en tant que lieu (1984), aux premières tournées à l'étranger (années 1980), et enfin à l'installation de la pratique théâtrale dans le paysage culturel, à Jérusalem et dans les Territoires palestiniens. | ||
| 520 | |a In this article, I will study the emergence of the theatrical movement in Palestine throughout the seventies using the François Abou Salem archive as a case study since it highlights various ongoing processes of the period. I will use the archive as a material testimony, emphasizing not only this historical process and its sustainability, but also the process of theatre-making itself and the professionalization of the movement. The François Abou Salem archive is located in the Palestinian National Theatre/El-Hakawati in Jerusalem. François Gaspar, also known as François Abou Salem (1951-2011) is a French theatre artist who was based in Jerusalem. He created and conserved his own archive throughout his artistic career, from the early seventies to his death in 2011. Much like any performing arts archive, this collection is built on a paradox between the immediacy of the practice and the permanence and definitive nature of the archive. This archival collection brings together materials of various types and periods: from the founding of the first professional theatre troupe (1977), then of the first Palestinian theatre as a place (1984), to the first tours abroad (1980s), and finally the establishment of theatrical practice in the cultural landscape, in Jerusalem and in the Palestinian Territories. | ||
