| Summary: | With the emergence of the Terror and the seizure by the Giacobins, the French Revolution reaches its most extreme moment. The breaking point generated four years earlier not only destroys the society of the old regime, but also has negative consequences on the law side. In 1793 the national Convention approves a legislative provision that dissolves any glimmer of reason: the Law of suspects, followed by further measures of a similar nature. For the fear of being considered traitors to the homeland and inevitably condemned to death, thousand of French emigrate beyond the borders of their own country, in a forced exodus with uncertain consequences. Con l'affermarsi del periodo del Terrore e la presa di potere da parte dei Giacobini, la Rivoluzione francese raggiunge il suo momento più estremo. Il punto di rottura venutosi a creare quattro anni prima non soltanto cancella definitivamente la società di antico regime, ma porta con sé conseguenze nefaste anche sul versante del diritto. Nel 1793 la Convenzione nazionale approva un provvedimento legislativo che dissolve in una nuvola di fumo ogni barlume di ragionevolezza: la Legge dei sospetti, seguita poi da ulteriori disposizioni di natura analoga. Per il timore di essere considerati traditori della patria e inevitabilmente condannati a morte, migliaia di francesi emigrano oltre i confini del proprio paese, in un esodo forzato e dai risvolti incerti. |
