On the basis of an integrated approach and in the frame of the textual analysis offered by Gérard Genette, some hints at various topics are presented: among them, the origins and the transmission of the canonical statement in the earliest preserved synodical writings, possible cultural models, the initial ban of alliances among adfines, and questions about recent religious studies in Late Antiquity. In other words, every ancient canon or later canonical document, as a text (i.e., a verbal set endowed with its own meaning), can not be considered in its own semiotic uniqueness but inside a plot of links with other texts or traditions.
