How does the new silence look like? What is the impact of silence on the spatial dynamics of religion? This paper analyses the influence of silence on religious identity building in a postmodern environment. Silence has brought forth a pluralistic, post-confessional interest in recluse lifestyle and meditation. Today, monasteries have become a veritable industry of retreats and guides to spiritual direction. The new silences of religion have promised salvation in a noisy world. Can this promise be kept? In den vergangenen zwanzig Jahren wurde das Versprechen der Stille zu einem allgegenwärtigen Phänomen der Religion. Zwei Beispiele sind das Haus der Stille in Meschede (2001) und die Kirche der Stille in Hamburg (2008). Woher kommt dieses neue Versprechen? Wie sieht die neue Stille aus? Welchen Einfluss hat das Schweigen auf die räumliche Dynamik religiöser Performanzen? In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird der Einfluss des Schweigens auf die religiöse Identitätsbildung in einer postmodernen Gesellschaft analysiert. Schweigen und Stille motivieren ein pluralistisches und post-konfessionelles Interesse an weltabgewandten Lebensformen und Meditation. Klöster haben sich zu einer veritablen Retreat-Industrie entwickelt. Das neue Schweigen der Religion verspricht Erlösung in einer Welt des Lärms. Kann dieses Versprechen gehalten werden? | ||
