Comforting, understanding persons provide the presence necessary for the patients to be able to make these changes. These experiences serve as a theological model, revealing the nature of humanity's estrangement as isolated individuals and the quality of God's grace. God is shown to be a comforting, stable person who is willing to give us space to grow at our needed pace and nurture us in the process.
