The World Health Organization has presented Community Based Rehabilitation as one contribution to meeting the challenge. This paper explores the value of this approach within the context of a rehabilitation programme that has been operating in the rural areas of Guyana for over eight years. The spiritual motivation of the volunteers who comprise the backbone of this project is explored.
