Zusammenfassung:This paper addresses the complicated and conflictual problem of deciding ethical issues for and with persons with mental disabilities. The interdisciplinary processes can become forums for the creation of communities of authentic moral inquiry. Cultural, personal, and bureaucratic influences tend to skew ethical deliberations in the interdisciplinary processes. However, commitment to the value of each person, a focus on caring rather than cure, a personal knowledge of persons with disabilities, and a willingness to own the importance of spiritual dimensions can create an opportunity for the interdisiciplinary processes to develop as communities of moral inquiry.
