But regardless of this interpretative continuity, this feature has undergone deep changes. The present paper sketches some of these changes and tracks them until the present day, where the most ambitious interpretations seem to have lost their power of conviction. In today’s anthropological way of thinking, upright posture is often looked upon as an ambivalent feature. |
