Description
Summary:n this essay the author investigates the meaning of the election of Pope Benedict XVI. Avoiding any polarization of the debate between apologetics and detractors, the figure of the new pope is interpreted in the light of the cultural dialectics typical of contemporary society where very different moral horizons come together. What becomes apparent from the analysis is the preoccupation that Benedict XVI may choose to align the church in the cultural battles that transversally divide our society and – opting for a «Donatist ̈ solution – thus may make the comparison with important drifts of modern ethical and spiritual research more difficult.
