Zusammenfassung:Tommaso d’Aquino constructed his metaphysics resorting to the categories of platonic and neoplatonic thought and above all Aristotelian philosophy. His other sources of inspiration were the Scriptures. From here he acquired the concept of the «creation from nothingness» to which Christian thinkers had contributed. In this concept Tommaso found the key to his whole metaphysical system: he erected the pillars of his metaphysics on the basis of the idea of the divine creation of the world. By means of his creationist metaphysics he elaborated a new theory of being and of the relationship between God and man. This allowed him to construct a metaphysical system profoundly different from those of the pagan philosophers.
