Recognizing the social dimensions of individual decision-making, the paper explores how changes in systems occur through individuals making decisions within their roles. In doing so, it advances an Insight theory of change: that aspirational change-making in systems (for example, changes that are oriented toward human welfare or justice) occurs through individuals making decisions oriented to those aspirations within their roles, which can sometimes involve an expanded horizon of the role itself. To support this exploration, the paper sets out key Insight terms and relations, and then presents a hypothetical first-person account of conflict and change-making within a complex system. In doing so, it advances an understanding of change-making, using the Insight approach, to stimulate further exploration and practical application. | ||
