A noção a que recorre para juntar dois extremos de seu percurso é a de “modernidades alternativas”. Meu objetivo é refletir sobre essa noção, apostando na possibilidade de articular os mesmos extremos e na idéia de que ambos problematizam o modo como se faz antropologia no Brasil. No primeiro caso, por meio do conceito de “capitalismo autoritário” e os efeitos que provoca sobre a reflexão em torno do campesinato e do rural. No segundo, por um dos resultados mais interessantes dos escritos sobre religião e globalização, que consiste na problematização de perspectivas orientalistas e ocidentalistas. Em comum, o impulso no sentido de pensar a modernidade de forma plural, a um só tempo questionando a existência de versões mais “autênticas” e reconhecendo as especificidades de um olhar desde uma situação como a brasileira. | ||
| 520 | |a In one of his more recent texts, dedicated to the theme of religion as knowledge, Otávio Velho refers to his first works on the agricultural expansion front . The notion to which he recorres to unite the two extremities of his course is that of “alternative modernities”. My aim is to reflect about this notion, betting in the possibility of articulating the same extremities and in the idea that both interrogate the way how one does anthropology in Brazil. In the first case, by the concept of “authoritarian capitalism” and the effects that it provoques on the reflexion about peasants and rural environment. In the second, by one of the most interesting results among writings on religion and globalization, which consists in questioning oriental and occidental perspectives. In common there is the impulse to think modernity in a plural form, simultaneously questioning the existence of versions that are more “authentic” and recognizing the particularities of a perspective from a situation like the brazilian one. | ||
