| 520 | |a Apresentamos a atuação da Igreja Evangélica Alemã (IEA) que, junto com a Sociedade Alemã de Beneficência (SAB), foram associações fundamentais para os luteranos e calvinistas no Rio de Janeiro oitocentista. Diferente da Sociedade Germânia, multi-étnica, elitista, local de reunião, jogos e refeições de ricos negociantes estrangeiros, provenientes de diversos países, a comunidade e a associação atenderam antes a comerciantes, artífices, artesãos e trabalhadores aqui residentes. Após 1863, a IEA tomou-se uma igreja isolada das demais, no Brasil, tendo em vista que rompeu com a matriz da Prússia. Desta forma, mostrou a herança hanseática de manter antes um caráter autônomo do que submisso a autoridades estatais, menos ainda ao centralizador Reino da Prússia, prestes a dominar as cidades hanseáticas ao consolidar a Confederação do Norte da Alemanha, em 1867. | ||
| 520 | |a The article presents the German Evangelical Congregation which, together with the German Welfare Society, were both important associations for Lutherans and Calvinists living in the capital of the only American Monarchy. Differently from the German Society - multi-ethnic, elitist, a meeting place for meals and playing for the rich foreigner traders originating from different countries -, the congregation and association assisted keep-shoppers, artisans, and workers. After 1863 the congregation became cut off from the Prussian Evangelical Church and thereby isolated itself from the other German Evangelical Churches in Brazi!. Thus, it showed the Hanseatic inheritance of keeping its authonomy rather than submitting to centralizing state authorities, even less vis-à-vis the powerful Kingdom of Prussia, which soon dominated the Hanseatic towns by consolidating the North German Confederation in 1867. | ||
