Summary: | The purpose of this article is to contribute to the understanding of the social relations present at religious festivals in Minas Gerais during the golden period. Especially the entry of the new bishop of Mariana in 1748 and the connection of this eminently ecclesiastical feast with the forms of socialization and festive organization of popular Catholicism linked to the brotherhoods. Understand the games of symbolic relationships and reputation that come from this contact between different social strata, identifying the actors, their forms of relationships and how they identified themselves before similar groups of "whites", "browns" and "blacks" within the universe Catholic brotherhoods and the game between State, Church and population to maintain the established order and the ability to increase symbolic capital between mergers and fissures. |
